Tablet disintegration apparatus are used to test how a drug in pellet form will disintegrate in solution. Disintegration testers help in evaluation of disintegration capability of formulations (ex: tablets) and quality control of different dosage forms in pharmaceutical companies.
The mechanism of tablet disintegration:
① Mechanism of forming corrosive pores: Soluble ingredients contained in the tablet dissolve quickly after contact with water to form corrosive pores.
② Solid bridge fracture mechanism: After water penetrates the tablet, the “solid bridge” dissolves and the binding force disappears.
③ Gas generation mechanism: The tablets containing effervescent disintegrants produce CO2 gas when they encounter water.
④ Water absorption and swelling mechanism: The disintegrant swells with water, the volume of editing and finishing increases, and the binding force of the tablet is destroyed.
⑤ Moist heat mechanism: The tablet absorbs water and produces moist heat, which is the expansion of the air in the tablet.
